Dr. Michele Bratcher Goodwin is a Chancellor’s Professor at the University of California, Irvine and founding director of the Center for Biotechnology and Global Health Policy. She is an elected member of the American Law Institute as well as an elected Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and the Hastings Center (the organization central to the founding of bioethics). She is the host of On The Issues With Michele Goodwin, Ms. Magazine podcast. 

Trained in sociology, anthropology and law, Dr. Goodwin has conducted field research in Asia, Africa, Europe and North America. She has advised or given testimony before state, federal and international policymakers, judges, business executives and civil society leaders based on her research. A prolific author, her publications include six books and over 100 articles, essays and commentaries, which have been featured in print, radio and television news media domestically and internationally. 

She has served in numerous leadership impact positions, including being the first woman elected Secretary General of the International Academy of Law & Mental Health. She currently serves as an Executive Committee member of the American Civil Liberties Union.  

In 2020 Orange Coast Magazine named her one of 35 Kickass Women.

Dr. Ana Langer is a physician specializing in pediatrics and neonatology, and a reproductive health expert. She joined the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health in July 2010 as a Professor of the Practice of Public Health in the Department of Global Health and Population and Director of the Dean’s Special Initiative on Women and Health. 

Dr. Langer is respected worldwide as a leader in reproductive and maternal health, the translation of evidence into policies and programs, and the improvement of quality of health care for women and families. For more than 30 years, she has been a leading researcher, programmer and advocate for the advancement of a women’s health agenda, particularly focused on the most vulnerable. Dr. Langer has published extensively on maternal mortality; technical and interpersonal quality of maternal health care, unsafe abortion; contraception; the introduction of evidence-based practices in maternal health services; the links between women as users and providers of health care, and strategies to improve women’s health and rights along their life course.

Before joining the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health, Dr. Langer was president and CEO of EngenderHealth (2005-2010), an international reproductive health not-for-profit organization that has worked for seven decades in more than 90 low- and middle-income countries. From 1994-2005, Dr. Langer was the Population Council’s regional director for Latin America and the Caribbean based in Mexico; for the last two of those years she was simultaneously the acting director of the Council’s Global Reproductive Health Program. Previously, she was the chair of the Department of Research in Women and Children’s Health for the National Institute of Public Health in Mexico (1988-1994), where she led clinical trials and research projects and established the first master’s program in reproductive health in the Latin America and the Caribbean region.

Dr. Jotham Musinguzi is currently the Director General of Uganda’s National Population Council (NPC), Ministry of Finance.

Dr. Musinguzi is a Public Health Physician. He has taught Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Makerere University Medical School, Kampala. He has special interests in Population and Development, Reproductive Health, Family Planning and HIV/AIDS.  Dr. Musinguzi has in the past served as the Regional Director of Partners in Population and Development, Africa Regional Office (PPD ARO).

Dr. Musinguzi is current Chair of the Board of Directors of Uganda’s National Medical Stores (NMS); Board Chair of Commonwealth Medical Trust, London (UK); Board Chair of PACE (Uganda). He serves as a Board Member of Women Deliver (New York) as well as Board Member of Guttmacher Institute.

Dr. Musinguzi has, in the past, served as Chair of the Board of Directors of PSI Uganda; as a Trustee of the Population Council of New York; as a Board Member of the African Population and Health Research Centre (APHRC) based in Nairobi, Kenya; as Board Chair of the International Council of Management of Population Programmes (ICOMP) based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; as a Board Member of Uganda’s National Planning Authority (NPA) and as President of Uganda Medical Association.

Dr. Musinguzi is a recipient of the 2013 United Nations Population Award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the implementation of the ICPD Programme of Action. He is also a recipient of the 2014 International Alumni Award for Exceptional Achievement from the University of Albany, New York.
